Primary School Facilities
There are many options available to parents in Victoria looking for an integrated primary/secondary education for their child, including government, independent and Catholic schools. Deaf facilities or units are housed onsite so staff can provide support for in class mainstream learning as well as individual teaching as required. Staff share their expertise in best practice for deaf/hard of hearing learners with the whole community and utilising technology to provide access is embraced. - BPS is situated in the Bayside suburb of Brighton, 12 kms from the CBD. The school is committed to improving learning outcomes of all its’ students. The Primary Years Program (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization is followed throughout the school and provides a curriculum framework with internationally recognized core learning areas alongside a framework for social development. The Hearing Unit, (a regional specialised facility), established in 2007, supports students in fully accessing mainstream education.

- Eastwood Deaf Facility is committed to providing a rich, diverse learning experience that will assist our students to achieve their educational and personal potential. Eastwood Deaf Facility provides primary aged Deaf and hard of hearing students with access to mainstream education alongside their Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing peers. Students participate in the regular programs of the school with support from Facility staff. Students in the Facility also received targeted teaching from the Teacher of the Deaf in individual or small group teaching sessions.

- The Shepparton Deaf Facility at Guthrie Street Primary School was established in 1995. Students who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing are placed in classes with hearing peers. Students participate in the same range of activities, subjects and curriculum as all other children and are supported to foster friendships with both Deaf and hearing friends.

- Deaf Education in Bendigo formally began in 1951 with Deaf students attending McDonald House School for Deaf Children. By the end of 1989, McDonald House had officially closed and students integrated into mainstream schools; these being Kennington Primary School, Golden Square Secondary College (now Bendigo South East College) and Bendigo Senior Secondary College.

- The MLC Deaf Integration Program commenced in 1986. It grew from a visionary idea that, given the right planning and support, deaf or hard of hearing students could learn alongside hearing students in a school that promoted achievement for all and celebrated individual differences. This unique program caters for both signing and oral deaf students from Prep to Year 12, to assist them to reach their full potential.

- Pearcedale Primary Schools long history began with the schools official opening in July 1908. The Pearcedale Deaf Facility has been operating as an integrated part of the school since 1995 to provide children who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing with the best possible access to an inclusive mainstream education. - Rosanna Golf Links Deaf Facility has been part of the mainstream school since 1996. It continues to grow and change with educational innovations and trends to provide the best social and learning outcomes and teaching solutions for every student. - St Albans East Primary School Deaf Facility was established in 2001 to serve the needs of families in Melbourne’s Western Metropolitan Region. It provides experienced, trained Teachers of the Deaf to support Deaf and hard of hearing students access mainstream education in their classrooms. The facility is staffed on a ratio of one Teacher of the Deaf to every four Deaf or hard of hearing students. The facility provides Auslan interpreter support to students for whom Auslan is their primary mode of communication. Students also receive support from on-site Speech Pathologists and visits from Australian Hearing Services Audiologists.
