Eastwood Primary School and Deaf Facility is a mainstream Primary School in the South East suburbs of Melbourne. We have approximately 600 students in the school. Eastwood Primary School and Deaf Facility, in partnership with its community, seeks to optimise the potential of each individual and promote a friendly, safe and healthy school environment. We aim to extend knowledge, challenge thinking, provide choice and ignite passions. The Facility students are integrated into the mainstream school and are fully supported by Teachers of the Deaf.
The school’s motto ‘Enthusiasm Precedes Success’ supports the schools’ 4 values of Resilience/Honesty/Respect/Kindness. Our Student Wellbeing focus aims to empower individuals and teams to enable a sense of connectedness, purpose and zest for life for the students, their families and the staff.
The Facility is staffed by qualified Teachers of the Deaf and Auslan trained Teacher aides who recognise the individual needs of the child. They are dedicated to providing opportunities and support to enhance learning in a mainstream environment for their students. Eastwood Primary School and Deaf Facility has Teachers of the Deaf to interpret all subject areas, including specialist classes, assemblies, special events, excursions/incursions etc. The Facility students are strongly encouraged and supported to apply for leadership positions within the school.
The Victorian Deaf Education Network offers membership to educational professionals who lead programs that specialise in teaching children who are deaf or hard of hearing.
We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout Victoria and pay respect to the ongoing living cultures of First Peoples.
